I am very aware folks have issues with my house (the burrow) and I am all ears if anyone wants to talk to me about my house, my personal politics, hwf, or anything else. I am all down for productive and honest communication, not for the sake of community (which I see less and less in Halifax) but…
hi there. i’m not in halifax right now but i will be there at the end of the month for hwf at which i will be preforming as myself and i’m very excited about that, i dont have a tumblr where i would want to post this sort of thing and i feel like more people will see it if i just post here anyway. basically, i too would like to have more conversations about my house (the burrow). it seems that my choice to live there and to be a part of the family that resides within is confusing and somehow hurtful to some of the people i love and care about.
in the past i have been ignorant of exactly what everyones beef was, but during the winter it all became quite clear for me through several conversations, i felt a little embarrassed for defending something i really didn’t know a lot about (the instance when the burrow endorsed rape culture by allowing a perpetrator into its space) and my personal failure to learn about my houses history before defending it is the thing that i feel i need to apologize for.
only a handfull of people know me, and i like it that way. but with hwf coming up i feel that i may need to put myself out there a little bit so that some people can feel a little more comfortable sharing a space with me, not that i really give a shit about what an almost complete stranger thinks about me as an individual, but that stranger might be important to someone i love, and this problem is much much bigger than that i guess.. thats why i’m using my voice i hope that i articulated that in a way that can be understood.
yes, so where i stand now is here. i acknowledge the mistakes of my house in the past and wish to be accountable to the people who i love and maybe the people who i may know in the future, basically i’d like to talk honestly with whoever wants to talk to me. i’d also like it to be known that i have no qualms with the way that the burrow exists today knowing that all of this is a work in progress, i see the steps that have been taken but the steps ahead are a little dark and blurry. if you feel that i you can shine a light on these for me then please know that i’m easily convinced by honesty and calm and very willing to listen. yah. email me at iambeyon@gmail.com or talk to me when i get home from providence.

More progress on “Silence”, shadow spoken word / musical play in progress. here are some really rough stills and test shots using our bodies.
Beyon & I spent the day sewing the Earth on to a screen and testing out shadows & scenes, rehearsing the whole thing with music. Our great friend, Phoebe Neel who’s essence reflects the Earth, is now being the voice of the Earth.
If you’re in Providence, we’re premiering a rough version of “SILENCE” at the RISD Senior Film/Animation/Video Senior show on Tuesday May 14 & Friday May 17th at 6pm at the RISD Auditorium. I think our performance will end the whole show on both those nights. Many other wonderful senior thesis films and animations will be screened there too, as well as a performance our sibling play, “OX” by sculptor/puppeteer Andrew Murdock. When tour rolls around, it will evolve, most likely for the better.
The support for this project has really been incredible, and I’ve had the immense honor of working with some of the most brilliant mentors & friends that I can hardly count on two hands and two feet. If anything, this play is dedicated to them & of course to the Earth.
